1. Sports Grant Provides Disability Skills Training to Coaches in Mexico

   

   The National Ability Center, in collaboration with the Departamento de Educación Especial for the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico, and UCP Wheels for Humanity in the United States conducted a multi-phased sports exchange for youth with disabilities with the goal of establishing sustainable sports programs that target youth with physical and developmental disabilities in Mexico.

5. Virtual Sports Visitor Program Connects Coaches and Administrators from Ten Countries

   Last month, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ (ECA) Sports Diplomacy Division hosted a virtual Sports Visitor Program (SVP) with participation from approximately 60 soccer coaches and sports administrators from ten countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Burma, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Israel, and Nicaragua.

   Grace Kiraguri realized the potential of sports marketing as a career and launched her very own Icon Sports Marketing Corporation.

8. Sports Visitors Program Hosts Futsal Athletes

   

   Sports Visitors Program hosted 15 male athletes and coaches from Libya for a futsal Sports Visitors exchange program. Futsal is a modified version of outdoor soccer played on a hard surfaced basketball-sized indoor court, with a smaller and heavier ball.

   Aziza Kayumova is the President of the Standard Dance Sport Federation in Tajikistan, an independent public organization, which promotes, encourages, publicizes, and facilitates the art of sport dancing in all its forms nationally.

    Hermine E'Gairma is a FIBA-certified international basketball referee, a physical education teacher at a private, international school, and the President of the Women and Sports Commission for the Rwandan Olympic Committee.
