1. Iraqi Basketball Players Visit the United States

   

   On June 22, 2011, the U.S. Department of State welcomed 10 young Iraqi basketball players and their coaches to the United States.

2. Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. Visits Japan

   

   As a Public Diplomacy Envoy, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. traveled throughout Japan to spread goodwill through baseball.

4. U.S. State Department & NHL Partner for Ice Hockey Exchange with Russia

   

   The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs hosted a Russian delegation of 18 youth hockey players and their coaches, who participated in the first-ever ice hockey exchange between the two countries.

5. Tajikistan Women's Taekwondo Coaches Delegation

   

   Working with the embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the U.S. State Department office recruited 12 female taekwondo coaches for a program in the U.S.

6. Bumping Up Efforts to Empower Women and Girls Worldwide: Gulf Nations Volleyball Coaches

   

   Under the State Department’s Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative, the Gulf Nations Volleyball Visitor Program brought 10 female volleyball coaches from Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Yemen to the U.S. for activities focused on the development of sports programs for women and girls.

7. Sports Visitors to China Focus on Underserved Populations, Youth with Disabilities

   

   The University of Montana conducted a two-way exchange between participants from the U.S. and China to share best practices, as well as receive training in project management and development.

8. Brazil and Basketball: Athletes from Sao Paulo

   

   ECA hosted 14 teenage athletes—seven boys and seven girls—and two coaches from Brazil in the U.S. for a basketball exchange from February 6 to 18, 2013.

9. Women's World Cup Program

   

   18 high school students from around the world participated in a U.S. Department of State sports diplomacy program about the Women's World Cup.

10. Dance! Diplomacy in Motion

    

    Check out the four dance companies scheduled to tour around the globe in 2012 as part of the U.S. Department of State's DanceMotion USA program.
