Narrator:

You are listening to Dzenana Brkic, a Youth Exchange and Study (YES) participant from Bosnia and Herzegovina. What does living without limits mean to you?

Dzenana Brkic:

For a person with a disability, living without limits is like not having that disability at all. That is what my exchange year has given me -- freedom and independence. The most memorable part of my exchange year is getting to know all those wonderful people, learning their culture, tasting their food, and speaking their language. It was so important because that’s why I was there in the first place.

By returning to my home I decided to change my community especially the school where I spent all of my life -- the school for the blind and visually impaired students. I felt I could somehow give something back to the program by teaching other kids the English language and by sharing my experiences with them.
