Jeremy Sabloff was appointed by President Barack Obama in September 2016 to chair the Cultural Property Advisory Committee.

Jeremy Sabloff is an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute and the Christopher H. Browne Distinguished Professor of Anthropology Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania, positions he has held since 2015 and 2010, respectively.

Previously, Dr. Sabloff served as President of the Santa Fe Institute from 2009 to 2015, Professor at the University of Pennsylvania from 1994 to 2009, and Director of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology from 1994 to 2004. He served as a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh from 1986 to 1994, Professor at the University of New Mexico from 1978 to 1986, and Associate Professor at the University of Utah from 1976 to 1977. Dr. Sabloff was an Assistant and Associate Professor at Harvard University from 1969 to 1976.

He is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Sabloff received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
