Shaping the Future of the Kyrgyz Republic

February 4, 2013

Nadia Pak, a Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program alumna from the Kyrgyz Republic, is working with other FLEX alumni to mobilize Kyrgyzstani youth to be more active citizens. Since returning from her FLEX program in the United States, Nadia and her peers have launched the Unity Fund, an organization that finds fun ways for youth to volunteer in their communities. Since its creation in 2010, the group has grown to include more than 500 members and is making a difference through youth-led activities ranging from flash mobs against domestic violence to planting trees to visits to elderly homes. Nadia explains, “Unity Fund’s success is that we really try to involve as many young people and their interests [as possible.]"
