2. 2011-12 Fulbright NEXUS Regional Scholar Program

   

   The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program is a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations engaged in a year-long program that includes multi-disciplinary, team-based research, seminar meetings, and a Fulbright exchange experience, in one of three areas: Science, Technology and Innovation; Entrepreneurship; and Sustainable Energy.

3. WEAmericas Initiative

   The Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas) initiative and exchange elevates the economic status of women throughout the Western Hemisphere. WEAmericas was founded in the 2012 Summit of the Americas and brings women entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean to the United States on an International Visitor Leadership Program.

4. Cashews and the Lessons of the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program

   Minata Kone, a Burkinabé alumna of the 2012 African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP), is living proof for the women and girls of Burkina Faso and all of Sub-Saharan Africa, that they can be successful international business women.

5. 2013 Moroccan AEIF Winner Mobilizes Entrepreneurship

   

   Ali Aaouine, 2013 Alumni Innovation Engagement Fund (AEIF) Winner (http://alumni.state.gov/AEIF), helped launched Greenside Development Foundation (GDF) in Imouzzer-Kandar, Morocco. 6. Fulbright Alumna Develops App to Mobilize Emergency First Responders

   Jennifer Farrell, a Fulbright alumna, has developed a new mobile phone app and nonprofit social enterprise, CriticaLink, to build and mobilize a network of first responders for medical emergencies in Bangladesh.

7. U.S. Department of State and Education New Zealand Announce Partnership to Support the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

   U.S. Department of State and the New Zealand government agency Education New Zealand announce a new partnership.

8. Stevens Initiative Announces New Grants to Support Virtual Exchange Programs Domestically and Abroad

   Today, the Stevens Initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, announced six new grants to schools and organizations to implement virtual exchange programs for students at educational institutions ranging from middle school through the university level.
