5. Artists Imagine a Post-Pandemic Future through ECA’s International Writing Program

   When the global pandemic halted in-person interactions, the team at the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the University of Iowa immediately began thinking through creative ideas to engage artists who were eager to participate in the International Writing Program (IWP).

6. UGRAD Alum Organizes Charity Run Across Ukraine

   

   While studying in the United States, Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) alum Andriy Maksymovych met an activist who biked across the U.S. to raise money for charity. Andriy decided to adapt the idea to raise money for premature babies in his native Ukraine.

   Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Geoffrey Hiller, taught Interactive Media in Bangladesh. Geoffrey's photos of his experience give a glimpse into what his time in Bangladesh was like.

8. Human Rights Clubs in Rwanda (Youth Leadership Program)

   After returning home from her exchange program on human rights in the United States, Sharon worked with 21 other Rwandan exchange alumni students and educators to launch high school human rights clubs throughout Rwanda.

9. Welcoming First Class of Mandela Washington Fellows to ECA's Alumni Network and Resources

   During the 2014 President’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Summit in Washington D.C., the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Collaboratory and Alumni Affairs Division engaged with the first class of Mandela Washington Fellows.
