   Being in the school play and working closely with the other student actors and directors did help me improve my Hindi skills and confidence in speaking.

3. Fulbright-Hays Program

   The Fulbright-Hays Program -- a Fulbright Program funded by a Congressional appropriation to the United States Department of Education-- awards grants to individual U.S. K-14 pre-teachers, teachers and administrators, pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral faculty, as well as to U.S. institutions and organizations.

4. Office of Academic Exchanges

   The Office of Academic Programs oversees all academic programs sponsored by the Department of State, including the Fulbright Program for students, teachers, scholars and mid-career professionals in the Humphrey program, teacher exchange programs, English language programs, Study of the United States programs, and programs for undergraduate students.

   The English Language Fellow Program sends experienced English language teachers on teaching assignments around the world.

8. Group Study/ Research

   Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, the Fulbright-Hays--Group Projects Abroad Program, provides support for overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies for U.S. teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor.

9. Office of English Language Programs

   The Office of English Language Programs creates and implements English language programs in specific regions and countries of the world. Programs are administered through local American Embassies or Consulates and are supported in part by Regional English Language Officers (RELOs) and Program Specialists. Together, these offices plan, conduct, support, and promote English Language programs while developing English teaching curricula, textbooks, and teacher training workshops.

10. Office of Global Educational Programs

    The Office of Global Educational Programs plans, develops, administers and monitors the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, the Community College Initiative Program, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program and several exchange and professional development programs for secondary school teachers and educators, with the help of private, non-profit organizations.
