   A former player on the Moroccan National Basketball Team, Mohamed Amine Zariat took his passion for team sports and developed a nonprofit. TIBU started as a basketball tournament for at-risk youth in a low-income neighborhood in Morocco and has evolved to provide Moroccan youth leadership and social skills at 18 community centers. TIBU also provides opportunities for physically disabled youth to build their confidence through inclusive sports.

   Zariat returned from his IVLP inspired with new ideas to expand TIBU's programming. TIBU is now supported by the Moroccan Ministry of Education, and Zariat plans to implement programs throughout Morocco. By providing opportunities for Moroccan youth to become community leaders, Zariat is changing the world in which they live.

   The whole experience has enriched my life not only professionally but also personally. 2. Swaziland Soccer Coaches Visit the U.S.

   

   The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs hosts Swaziland coaches for soccer clinics and programs

3. Iraqi Basketball Players Visit the United States

   

   On June 22, 2011, the U.S. Department of State welcomed 10 young Iraqi basketball players and their coaches to the United States.

4. South African Basketball Coaches Come to the U.S.

   

   From March 8 to 19, 2012, South African coaches met with U.S. sports professionals, held clinics with young American athletes at local schools, participated in an NBA clinic, and engaged in activities focused on team-building and injury prevention in the Washington, D.C., area.

5. Iraqi Taekwondo Program

   

   Working with the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, the U.S. State Department organized a dynamic taekwondo sports program.

6. Track and Field Athletes from the Caribbean Visit the U.S

   

   In partnership with USA Track and Field and the Oregon Track Club, the U.S Department of State organized a dynamic track and field program to empower women and girls.

7. Former NBA Legends Sam Vincent and Andrea Stinson Travel to Jordan

   

   Partnering with the NBA and WNBA, the U.S. Department of State sent legends Sam Vincent and Andrea Stinson as well as NBA clinician Marty Conlon to Jordan in July.

8. Russian Hockey Players Come to the U.S.

   

   Russian youth ice hockey players and coaches traveled to the U.S. for a two-week sports exchange program.

9. ECA Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Innovation (MELI) Unit

   The Evaluation Division of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of ECA’s educational and cultural programs, which work to build friendly, peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through academic, cultural, sports, and professional exchanges, as well as public-private partnerships.

10. University of Montana: FUSALMO – El Salvador

    

    The University of Montana partnered with in-country partner FUSALMO to conduct a two-way sports exchange between Montana and El Salvador focusing on youth who are susceptible to gangs and crime.
