2. Fulbright-National Geographic Fellow Studies Deaf Culture in Cambodia

   

   Erin Moriarty Harrelson, 2014-5 Fulbright-National Geographic Fellow in Cambodia, tells us about her time studying deaf culture in Cambodia.

3. Fulbright – National Parks Partnership

   The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the National Park Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, announced the establishment of the Fulbright-National Parks Partnership on January 13, 2021.

4. U.S. Department of State to Host Series of Career Readiness Workshops for Gilman Alumni

   The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ USA Study Abroad branch will host a series of career readiness workshops for approximately 150 alumni of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program over the next two weeks.

5. Uncharted Waters

   

   Beatriz Recinos, an undergraduate student from El Salvador, studied oceanography and geophysics at Humboldt State University in Northern California while participating in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program.

6. Exchange Alumni Partner with Kuwait Oil Company to Support Opportunities for Disabled Individuals

   Exchange alumni Nora Al-Othman and Abdul Aziz Al-Mutairi pair partnered with Training Gate International (TG-I), a leading organization in assessing the needs of the disabled community in Kuwait, to organize a forum on disability issues in Ahmadi, Kuwait.

7. Cultural Heritage Coordination Committee Meeting

   The Interagency Cultural Heritage Coordinating Committee conducted its third quarterly meeting. The meeting was chaired by Scott Weinhold, Senior Bureau Official of the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which chairs the committee and serves as its secretariate.   

8. Partnering with ECA

   

   The State Department partners with many public and private organizations to advance key policy goals such as increased access for persons with disabilities, combatting climate change, promoting good governance, fostering women and girls leadership, and technology advancement.

9. American Exchange Alumni Work Together to Fight Trafficking

   Forty American alumni of more than ten U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs came together in Washington, D.C. this month to expand on their experiences disrupting illicit trafficking networks, building resilient institutions and communities, and assisting victims and vulnerable populations.
