1. The Stevens Initiative ~ International Virtual Exchange

   

   The Stevens Initiative, conceived and developed in close partnership with Ambassador Stevens’ family, was inspired by the meaningful international exchange experiences that Ambassador Stevens had as a young man, which helped to shape the kind of diplomat he became.

2. ECA’s Virtual Sports Visitor Alumni Summit Connects Youth from 18 Countries around the Globe

   This month, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ (ECA) Sports Diplomacy Division, in conjunction with FHI 360, kicked off its Virtual Sports Visitor Youth Alumni Summit with participation from approximately 40 youth athlete alumni representing 18 countries around the world.

   At a time when it is unsafe for Ukrainian youth to return home due to the Russian government's unprovoked war, U.S. summer Camps Kenwood & Evergreen have helped provide a degree of normalcy for Ukrainian exchange students in the United States.

4. “Impact of Exchange: Stories from U.S. Exchange Alumni” Photo Exhibition Opening in Portland, Maine

   Starting today in Portland, Maine, there’s a new way to discover everyday life, cross-cultural experiences, and scenery in countries around the world. From August 31 through September 30, the “Impact of Exchange: Stories from U.S. Exchange Alumni” Photo Exhibition is open to transport viewers to locations all over the world, from places like China, Colombia, Moldova, Morocco, and South Korea.

6. American Swimmers Travel to Russia

   

   The State Department had two concurrent bilateral sports exchange programs with Russia in the summer of 2012.

7. Empowering Women & Girls Through Sports

   

   In the midst of the NCAA's March Madness, the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announced an international sports exchange that brought 18 teenage girl athletes and 6 female coaches from all corners of the globe to Washington, D.C., and Denver, Colorado as part of the Empowering Women and Girls Through Sports Initiative.

   By looking at exchange programs through a participatory lens based on user design and design thinking principles, we create a culture of creativity and innovation in the workplace.

9. Transform Travel for Young Americans

   Travel bloggers are invited to help educate our young, diverse populations on the benefits of studying abroad and travelling the world through international exchanges.

10. Around the World in an Afternoon

    Over 100 students and scholars from 49 countries convened at the U.S. Department of State to display elements of their cultural heritage.
