4. ECA Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Innovation (MELI) Unit

   The Evaluation Division of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of ECA’s educational and cultural programs, which work to build friendly, peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through academic, cultural, sports, and professional exchanges, as well as public-private partnerships.

6. Group Study/ Research

   Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, the Fulbright-Hays--Group Projects Abroad Program, provides support for overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies for U.S. teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor.

7. Ongoing Evaluations

   Evaluation reports currently in-progress. The Division's evaluation projects are large-scale, 18-to-24 month studies designed to assess outcome achievement and long-term impacts, with respect to overall State Department, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and program goals.

8. International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI)

   The SportsUnited: International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI) is an annual open grant competition that allows public and private U.S. non-profit organizations to submit proposals for programs that connect American with foreign audiences to each other through a shared interest in issues.

9. Fulbright Arctic Initiative

   The Fulbright Arctic Initiative will create a network to stimulate international scientific collaboration on Arctic issues while increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Using a collaborative model to translate theory into practice, program participants will address public-policy research questions relevant to Arctic nations’ shared challenges.
