A Step Towards World Peace
Francisca Lita Dantas, Science Teacher, TEA Program Participant
My name is Francisca Lita Dantas. I’m from India and I participated in the TEA program. See I think it has changed me as a person, and so obviously it will change me as a teacher. because whatever my line of thinking is will obviously affect my students. When I came here, I didn’t know the names of most of the countries -- the people who I met. But I knew that there’s something called as Latin America, there’s something called as Europe, and there’s something called as Middle East. And when I met these people, I got to know about them. I got to know about their cultures, I got to know about their history, their past, things that they believe, which religions they profess. And because of this I understand why they behave the way they do. So, I think it is a very important step towards world peace. If I understand why they do so and if a student questions me and I can tell them that this is how it is. This is why they are behaving the way they are. It really helps to some day integrate the entire world.
