   Professor Paul Heck of Georgetown University’s Department of Theology, is a 2008 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program alumnus who lectured in Arabic on the role of religion in the United States at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco.

   Today Dean started the day with a running tour of Tashkent. From there Dean hit the road for a 13-mile run to the border between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan crossing over to be greeted by hundreds of people.

   The Archaeological Institute of America cited the State Department’s long history in leadership in this area, especially as a market-country leader in implementation of the UN treaty of trafficking in cultural property, as well as extensive work in protecting Iraqi antiquities.

5. United States and Mali Extend Cultural Property Agreement, Include Protection for Manuscripts

   The United States and Mali extended their Agreement to continue import restrictions on archaeological material from Mali.

6. Ghazni Towers Documentation Project

   

   Laser scanning documentation of two 12th-century AD towers in Ghazni, Afghanistan, helps preserve the past for future generations.

7. United States and Ecuador Sign Agreement to Protect Ecuador’s Cultural Heritage

   Ambassador David Hale, U.S. Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ecuador José Samuel Valencia Amores, signed a new cultural property agreement in Quito on May 22, 2019.

8. IVLP Gold Star Lebang Nong Returns to U.S. to Continue Addressing How “Without Education, There is No Future”

   Each year, approximately 5,000 current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields travel to the United States on the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to cultivate professional networks with their American counterparts.
