   U.S. Department of State and The Metropolitan Museum of Art held an event titled “Heritage in Peril: Iraq and Syria” amid the United Nations General Assembly week.

3. Fulbright Alumna Promotes STEM Education for Girls at Clinton Global Initiative

   Joy Buolamwini developed Code 4 Rights with the mission to ensure that every country in the world has accessible information about local services that support women’s rights and that women are given the opportunity to create beneficial technology.

4. Alumnae as Economic Multipliers: Global Women Entrepreneurs Return to the United States

   This week, 41 women entrepreneurs from around the world arrived in Washington, D.C. to begin their International Visitor Leadership Program(IVLP), “Women Entrepreneurs: Alumni as Economic Multipliers.”

5. Fulbright Alumna Develops App to Mobilize Emergency First Responders

   Jennifer Farrell, a Fulbright alumna, has developed a new mobile phone app and nonprofit social enterprise, CriticaLink, to build and mobilize a network of first responders for medical emergencies in Bangladesh.

6. A New Look for Fulbright

   At the U.S. Capitol on May 22, 2019, the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs unveiled an updated Fulbright Program brand identity.

7. The IVLP Community and Volunteerism

   Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and Meridian International Center, a national program agency, hosted an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) virtual salon series titled, “Effective Volunteer Engagement during Uncertain Times.”

   On September 16, 2019, ECA launched its first year-long, multi-office pilot program entitled Communities and Youth for Promoting Hip Hop, Empowerment, and Resiliency (CYPHER), led by ECA’s innovation team, the Collaboratory.
