1. Strengthening Transatlantic Partnerships, 60 European Business and Social Entrepreneurs Begin the 2023 YTILI Fellowship Program

3. ECA Announces 19 Fulbright HBCU Institutional Leaders

   The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) recognizes 19 institutions of higher education as “Fulbright Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Institutional Leaders” for their noteworthy engagement with the Fulbright Program during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years.

4. WEAmericas Initiative

   The Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas) initiative and exchange elevates the economic status of women throughout the Western Hemisphere. WEAmericas was founded in the 2012 Summit of the Americas and brings women entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean to the United States on an International Visitor Leadership Program.

5. U.S. Visit Motivates Leaders to Empower Women

   Through an exploration of women, peace and security, international participants took away strategies for directing positive political, social and economic change in a democratic society.

   When the AFS program in Egypt was postponed due to security reasons, ECA was inspired to adopt a new method used by Tiffany Shlain, an AFS participant and leader in filmmaking and technology.

7. Open Competition for the Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative

   On October 1, 2015, The Aspen Institute’s J. Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative opened the first in a series of competitions to fund virtual exchanges that equip young people in the United States, the Middle East, and North Africa with the skills and aptitudes they need to gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and to succeed in the 21st century.

10. The Legacy of Benjamin A. Gilman

    In 2000, two years before he left Congress, Benjamin A. Gilman worked with his colleagues to establish the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. This program has since provided over 19,000 scholarships to U.S. undergraduate students who receive Federal Pell grants.
