Each year, the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award honors women who have played transformative roles in their societies, often at great personal risk. This is the only Department of State award that pays tribute to emerging women leaders worldwide for championing human rights, women’s equality, and social progress.

The Women's Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas) initiative and exchange increases women's economic participation and addresses the key barriers women confront when starting and growing small and medium enterprises. WEAmericas also includes a yearly follow-on component funded by the private sector and held in locations throughout Latin or South America.
