In October 2021, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of International Visitors (OIV) launched A Global Moment in Time, a special International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) initiative that addresses significant contemporary societal conditions affecting all corners of the world.

The initiative consists of three hybrid projects with up to 100 global participants each, nominated by U.S. embassies. As hybrids, the projects include both a virtual component that takes place this fall and an in-person component in the United States in fall 2022. Participants will experience a variety of programming activities, including meetings with professional counterparts, customized workshops, panel discussions, and opportunities to network and develop connections with fellow participants. In addition, each project will include a digital presence, enabling participants to present information and photo compilations documenting experiences in their home communities and countries.

Project Themes:

  • Photojournalists Document Challenges and Opportunities in the COVID Era
  • Peace and Justice
  • Reflections on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

Capturing the IVLP Global Moment!

Collecting photo-story submissions from A Global Moment in Time participants, the U.S. Department of State will produce special digital photobooks to commemorate the initiative. The photobooks will reflect recent challenges and accomplishments, reminding us that the globe is one community with many common interests. Together, we can tackle shared challenges and learn from one another.
