Description (no more than 300 words)
By fully immersing ourselves in communities abroad, the Peace Corps works side-by-side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation in over 60 countries. The Peace Corps offers a range of opportunities for our Volunteers to take on new challenges. Since 1961, thousands of lives have been impacted, not only those within host communities, but within those of the Volunteers themselves. In this way, Peace Corps service can be the first step toward a global career or the continuation of a life’s work in sustainable development. Opportunities span six different general specialties, including education, health, community economic development (business), environment, agriculture, and youth in development.
