Description (no more than 300 words)

Halliburton Engineering Global Programs (HEGP) of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas is hosting an event on November 16th, 2021 in support of International Education Week. HEGP develops and implements global experiences for students in the College of Engineering. Students participating in international programs during December through the spring 2022 academic semester engage in a pre-travel orientation (Raising Your Cultural IQ) where they learn about global competence skills and meet other students. The event is sponsored by Tenaris S.A. The highlight of the event is a discussion panel, where industry leaders from Halliburton, ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil will discuss their global perspectives and the importance of cultural competence. HEGP’s Steering Council meets the same day; the steering committee is comprised of industry leaders, most of whom are former students, who come together to assist and advise the department on its strategic goals, plans, programs, and new initiatives to ensure it remains relevant to industry and society. The day concludes with a Research Poster Presentation, where students who participated in HEGP’s summer Virtual Global Internship present their research projects. These students collaborated on STEM projects with faculty and research teams at partner universities in Malaysia, Greece, France, and India. After completing their summer project and writing a technical report, their experience culminates in this poster presentation, where they present their research findings to peers and university faculty members and administrators.
