Young African Leaders Arrive in Washington, D.C.

Assistant Secretary of State Marie Royce welcomed the nearly 700 leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa to Washington for the Mandela Washington Fellowship Summit. The Summit concludes their 6-week program of academic study and professional development. Fellows heard from Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson; Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Marie Royce; Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Tibor Nagy; and Malawian innovator, engineer, and author, William Kamkwamba, among other government, civil society and private sector leaders.
